Emerging Designers Diamond Initiative Collection Now Available at Greenwich St. Jewelers
Celebrating the creativity and diversity of the fine jewelry industry is in the DNA of Greenwich St. Jewelers, a New York City-based jewelry retailer that now stocks a curated selection of pieces from the Emerging Designers Diamond Initiative inaugural collection.
A joint effort between the Natural Diamond Council and celebrated jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz, the Emerging Designers Diamond Initiative launched in 2021. The mission of EDDI is to provide Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) fine jewelry designers looking to incorporate natural diamonds into their original pieces with unprecedented access to resources, mentorship, media opportunities and guidance as they grow their businesses.
“The EDDI project is a natural extension of our years-long effort to build a brand that celebrates the work of fine jewelry designers from a diverse array of backgrounds and aesthetics,” said sisters Jennifer Gandia and Christina Gandia Gambale, regarding why the collection was a great fit for Greenwich St. Jewelers. Founded by their parents in 1976, Jennifer and Christina took over the business when their parents retired in 2009.
“The group of designers chosen are such powerful artists; we knew from the moment they were announced that we wanted to present the collections in our store. We’re passionate about emerging artists, so getting involved with the initiative seemed like a natural fit. We felt very strongly that these collections should be experienced in-store, available for everyone to come in and try on, hopefully fall in love with and make their own,” the sisters added.
Select pieces from the Emerging Designers Diamond Initiative collection featuring pieces from Dorian Webb, Jam + Rico, Birthright Foundry, Made by Malyia and Marvin Douglas are available online at greenwichjewelers.com or in the New York City store at 64 Trinity Place.
