Natural Diamonds In the Garden: Jewelry Inspired by the 2024 Met Gala Theme
Fashion’s biggest night is fast approaching, and this year’s Met Gala theme calls for florals, garden creatures, and an overall air of whimsy.
Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the annual soirée traditionally takes place on the first Monday in May, since 1948, to be exact. We can always count on our favorite celebrities to add some natural diamond bling to their fabulous looks on the red carpet.
The Costume Institute’s forthcoming exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” compliments this year’s Met Gala theme and dress code, “The Garden of Time.”
Based on a 1962 short story of the same name by J.G. Ballard, the theme will be likely interpreted by guests taking notes from the beauty of nature. As far as natural diamond jewelry goes, birds, butterflies, insects, and florals are sure to take center stage.
We have seen garden-inspired natural diamond jewelry shine on the Met Gala red carpet in the past. In 2014, model Karolína Kurková wore an epic floral Guipure diamond necklace from Harry Winston. In 2015, actress Kate Hudson graced the Met steps wearing a canary, champagne, and white diamond floral headpiece from Lorraine Schwartz.
Now, while many of us are not wearing the epic diamond necklaces we see on the red carpet, we can still find similarities within reason. With spring upon us and summer on the horizon, this is the time to wear joyful jewelry.
