Every year we see the world’s hottest celebrities don some of the biggest diamonds the red carpet has ever seen, rivaling even the most blinged-out Oscars look. The 2022 Cannes Film Festival was no exception as every major star arrived on the red carpet in their finest ballgowns and diamond jewels. Ahead, take a look at some of our favorite diamond moments from the film festival.
Julia Roberts
No stranger to Cannes, Julia Roberts is attending this year’s film festival as the godmother of the Trophée Chopard, an award given out every year to a rising young actor and actress. She will be presenting the trophy to the two winners chosen by the Trophée Chopard Academy at a prestigious dinner hosted by Pierre Lescure, the Festival President, Thierry Frémaux, the Festival General Delegate, and Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director. The trophy itself has been upgraded this year for its 75th anniversary and is made with rose quartz with one of the leaves on the Fairmined-certified 18ct yellow gold palm leaf studded with 75 diamonds and another with 25.
Here on the red carpet, Roberts went minimalist with a sleek black pantsuit to let the star of her ensemble shine: A Fairmined-certified ethical 18-carat white and yellow gold necklace, adorned with a rare central yellow diamond weighting over 100 carats and set with pear-shaped and cushion-shaped diamonds totaling 54.67 carats from Chopard’s Red Carpet Collection.
