Law Roach Is as Multifaceted as His Diamond Collection

Law Roach’s diamond education began later in life. He grew up on Chicago’s South Side, where he was the oldest of five siblings and candy diamond rings were more prevalent than the real deal. “I didn’t come from a place where I inherited any diamonds, or from a place where they were readily available to me.” But that didn’t deter him from pursuing fashion or opening a vintage boutique in his hometown that would eventually catch the eye of another famous Chi-town native, Kanye West. That exposure opened the door for him to relocate to Los Angeles, Calif. and pivot to producing truly visionary styling work for Hollywood’s elite. It was there Roach finally got his masterclass in all thing’s luxury and glamour, securing a number of high-end campaigns and red-carpet appearances to craft and oversee.

With a roster of dream clients that includes the incomparable Zendaya and Celine Dion (the latter for whom he is credited with orchestrating her glorious aesthetic comeback), it’s no surprise that Roach tops every Hollywood styling power list. Through various other projects such as judging on America’s Next Top Model and voguing competition Legendary, the in-demand image architect continues to deliver Black excellence and visibility to an otherwise underrepresented community within the high-fashion space.

Here, we get an intimate peek into Roach’s styling process—first, with a luminous look he styled Zendaya in to celebrate a Lancôme fragrance launch in New York last fall. “She had on these really beautiful diamond-encrusted hoops. It was all about those earrings, just look at the bling on that!” He also gave us the scoop on an iconic Celine Dion moment when he styled her for Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter show a few seasons back. Roach confessed that Dion is also a lover and collector of diamonds and that this look specifically centered around a stunning pair of drop chandelier earrings that show off a number of gleaming baguette gems.
